As fast as technology develops, the important thing is always to be able to harness what’s innovative and turn it into something useful so you can stay ahead of the curve.
2018 is looking to be an exciting year for QJumpers as we look to take leading edge concepts and technology and introduce them to our already successful platform.
Earlier in 2017, QJumpers President Simon Oldham talked about the “holy grail” of global search-and-match technology and now it looks likely that 2018 will be the year that QJumpers’ quest to bring it on board is fully realized.
“I’m at this very moment trying to confirm partners in the global search-and-match technology,” Simon said. “The holy grail is being able to search anywhere, automatically find the best person based on your job criteria and then have them recommended to you. I have now seen suppliers who can make this work and I’m in talks to work out best potential partner so QJumpers can integrate into that.
“It’s going to be awesome. Right now, companies can go on to our new system and they can decide where they want to advertise using boards and social media etc, but that’s just advertising – this new system is just the click of a button and it will search absolutely everywhere for people who haven’t even applied for your job.”
So how does Simon see potential applicants reacting to being effectively cold-called about jobs by an AI-driven system?
“I don’t think it’s any different to recruitment agencies who can see a LinkedIn profile or a company where you’re working now. Agencies will give people a call so I don’t think it will be too much different – and with the AI that comes with it, it might even be a better experience because companies won’t have to be so scattergun in their approach, rather they will be able to contact fewer people. “Right now people who are getting bombarded by recruiters’ emails all the time might find it quite frustrating whereas if you know you’re only receiving approaches that are relevant and targeted, it will improve the experience.”
QJumpers is also investigating bringing on-board technology which will integrate AI with video screening to allow employers to capture personality traits and read how questions are answered in order to further streamline the application process.
Simon says the technology he’s investigating at the moment can measure more than a million traits in a 15-minute video and then match those with the type of person who would be suitable for a specific role. At the moment the technology has been shown to work well within the IT industry where the questions have been specifically designed for specific roles, but suppliers are already testing more generalized questions for a wider range of industries.
Simon says that rather than removing the “human touch” from the recruitment process, this use of AI would be beneficial as it would remove any human error from the process.
“What it’s actually doing is taking away the biases which are always going to be there when people recruit,” Simon says. “Governments around the world are already forcing legislation on companies to prove that there’s no sexual or racial biases in their recruitment and equal opportunities employment is massive in the US. This technology will provide the ideal way to take away that bias and ensure companies are interviewing and appointing the best people for the job no matter who they are.”
